Working Student - Customer Success (Spanish & German speaker)

Chatterbug is building the internet’s most effective system to learn languages by empowering those who speak them: humans! Humans build our curriculum, teach our students how to speak in one-on-one lessons, and now we’re looking for a few more humans to join us in making Chatterbug the best it can possibly be.

About the job

At Chatterbug, we’re very proud of the relationship we’ve built with our customers. We believe that great customer support is the key to success and we provide a multitude of channels for our users to share what’s on their mind. Whether they reach out via chat or email, engage with us on the community site, or leave a comment on social media, we make sure that our users feel heard and are encouraged to ask for help whenever they need. 

We’re now on the search for a like-minded Customer Success rep to expand this support to our newly acquired Spanish-speaking users. They will help us to:

  • Answer incoming user requests on Intercom
  • Respond to our large community of followers on social media
  • Create and update Spanish content for the Chatterbug help section
  • Assist our video team in the creation of support videos and tutorials in Spanish
  • Turn fans into superfans: create branded gifts for new subscribers

Although we are a small team, we have a big product. We are an experienced group with backgrounds ranging from GitHub and Amazon to Harvard and Cambridge, with funding from top investors in Silicon Valley and Europe. Our team works extremely reasonable hours and we have a strong commitment to work-life balance.

Beyond language learning, we’re on a bigger mission to help make lots of jobs for people who only need one skill: how to speak their native language. We currently teach German, Spanish and French to English speakers, and we recently launched English for Spanish speakers. We have an international team and an international product, and we’re proud of it.


  • Work/life balance matters. We work a full day then go home, and please set up your Do Not Disturb. That Slack message can wait, can’t it? We think so too.
  • Remote flexibility. Our largest office is in Berlin with ~24 people, but our team is encouraged to travel and work from home when needed. Because of the vast time zone spread (9 hours now!), we focus on asynchronous communication when possible, via Slack and Basecamp.
  • Face time brings us together. Since we’re split up over the world, we put a lot of value on our weekly in-video “Chattermeet” all-hands meetings. We share what’s happening in the company, our product, our curriculum, and occasionally some tidbits about our lives too.
  • Learning first. We have monthly breakfast meetings at our Berlin office to brainstorm new ideas for our company and product, and we encourage our employees to network and be continual learners at professional events.
  • Pitch us. Ideas for our company and our product can come from all levels or layers of the organization—you just need to write it up or propose it!

  • You’re enrolled as a student and will be for at least another 2 semesters
  • You have impeccable Spanish and German skills, and can communicate in English. Other languages are a plus!
  • You have a flair for written communication
  • You’re not afraid to throw in a joke here or there and establish “personable” relationships with our customers
  • You're comfortable working across departments, solving complex issues as a team
  • You are available 20 h/week and are flexible in your work schedule
  • You’re fun to work with
